There are a large number of players who will not only be playing for European glory in Poland and Ukraine, but will also be hoping to secure big moves at club level

As ever, the European Championship is set to bring together some of the continent's greatest players, with Poland and Ukraine becoming the centre of the world's football focus. And with many of the biggest stars looking to improve their domestic circumstances, the finals will be a shop window for them to prove they have what it takes to step up a level.

It has been seen so many times before, with major international tournaments paving the way for a huge transfer merry-go-round, and this summer seems set to provide a whole host of moves across Europe.

There are already a number of stars who have intimated that they want a change of scenery and will look to impress in their national colours, while others are being lined up by a number of clubs and are sure to have their every move watched by scouts from the continent's biggest institutions.

Below, Goal.com has a look at 13 of the players who will be present in Poland and Ukraine and are likely to be on the move before September comes around.

JORDI ALBA | Valencia & Spain, Defender, 23

A superb season for Valencia, who finished third in La Liga behind Real Madrid and Barcelona, has helped to strengthen Jordi Alba's reputation. He has also recently established himself as first choice in Vicente Del Bosque's La Roja side.

But at club level, the 23-year-old is stalling on a new contract and has been heavily linked with his first club Barca as a replacement for Eric Abidal as the Frenchman recovers from a liver transplant. A good run at the finals will make him no more familiar to the Catalans but could well persuade them he has enough class to play regularly at the very top of the game.

ANDREY ARSHAVIN | Arsenal & Russia, Forward, 31

With his loan spell with Zenit having just come to an end, Arshavin's plans reach their crossroads with Russia's Euro 2012 assault. Given the impact he had at the last European finals, one suspects that another great run will help to attract more interest in the pocket dynamo as Arsenal look to offload him.

Zenit could well look to make his move permanent after he enjoyed a successful spell at Petrovsky Stadium, but the Gunners could well cash in on a bigger bid should he prove to still have the old magic in Group A and beyond.

The full-back has hinted that he is likely to leave his home nation after the Euros, regardless of his or his country's form in the finals. He looked set to move to Russia at one stage during the January transfer window earlier this year, but it came to nothing.

However, his recent proclamation suggests that any interest will be taken seriously, and with his star having risen to great heights after his outstanding run in the Czech league this year, a half-decent showing in the finals could well see him on the move.

Giovinco has had a season to remember at club level, and the European Championship could well be the place where his immediate future is settled. Juventus still own 50 per cent of the rights for the player, who is co-owned by Parma, and while Inter hold a candle for the 'Atomic Ant', the Bianconeri could make moves to ensure their traditional rivals do not get their hands on their asset.

Whether he has a long-term place in Turin is yet to become clear, but a promising display in the Azzurri shirt could well help to persuade Juve coach Antonio Conte that Giovinco has a future in his first XI.

The centre-back sprung to the attention of many on the continent in Schalke's magnificent run to the Champions League semi-finals in 2011, and Bayern spent much of last summer flirting with the idea of making a move for Howedes.

Talk of a move to Bavaria has returned, but both FCB and Schalke have denied there have been talks regarding the player. His current club do have good cover options, though, so if his price were to go up off the back of a good performance in Poland and Ukraine, they could well sell.

After a phenomenal season in Dortmund's Bundesliga-winning campaign, the striker has aroused the attention of some top clubs, with Manchester United thought to be particular admirers. Dortmund are not keen sellers of their top assets, but Lewandowski is thought to have some interest in moving on.

The player's agent stated recently that his client could move, but not if Dortmund are unwilling to sell, meaning that the ball is in the German champions' court. However, a good Euro 2012 could see increased attention in the player, which could force BVB's hand.

The versatile Athletic Bilbao man has been linked with a number of Europe's biggest clubs in recent times, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and several sides in the Premier League, notably the two Manchester teams.

Although he is fast becoming one of Europe's hottest properties, the former Osasuna youngster has a release clause of €40m and Athletic have no real reason to sell their versatile World Cup winner. At the moment, he looks set to stay, but his future may depend on the club's ability to hang onto their other stars and the future of coach Marcelo Bielsa. A star showing in more Spain success could also see his suitors raise their bid closer to Athletic's asking price.

YANN M'VILA | Rennes & France, Midfielder, 21

After what feels like a decade of rumours, this looks set to be the summer when Yann M'Vila finally leaves Rennes. The constant speculation of the past few years has come about from his consistent performances at the heart of the midfield for both club and country, and a few more displays at a similar level would make his departure even more of a formality.

Arsenal are the club most closely associated in him right now, but if Les Bleus can fix their image with the No.17 at the wheel, then Rennes and M'Vila could find themselves spoilt for choice in negotiations come July.

ROLANDO | Porto & Portugal, Defender, 26

The Porto defender originally looked set for a move last summer, but a transfer failed to materialise as his club held out for the €30m in his release clause. Roma have now been credited with an interest again, but they will have to come to an agreement with the Portuguese champions, who may let the player leave as a result of his disappointing season at the Estadio do Dragao.

A good tournament for the defender with Portugal would surely be encouraging news all round, with Rolando looking to improve his reputation, Roma needing to better their defence, and Porto hoping to get good money for their asset.

KEVIN STROOTMAN | PSV & Netherlands, Midfielder, 22

The star midfielder has an ongoing contract with PSV, so won't be available on the cheap, but there have been a number of links with top clubs already this summer. Manchester United, AC Milan and Inter are said to be among the interested parties, and his perceived value could be set to sky rocket should he manage to win a fair amount of playing time with the Oranje in the next five weeks.

He will face stiff competition from Nigel De Jong and Mark van Bommel in his bid for regular football in Poland and Ukraine, but if he can make an impression then his chances of a big-money move can surely only grow.

OLA TOIVONEN | PSV & Sweden, Midfielder, 25

Like club teammate Strootman, Ola Toivonen will have been discouraged by PSV's inability to reach the Champions League for 2012-13, and admitted earlier in May that he would have a hard time playing in the Europa League. This has fuelled speculation that he will ask his agent to find him a new job come the culmination of the European Championship.

The attacking midfielder has made quite a reputation for himself in the Netherlands, and was also one of the keys to Sweden's qualification for the finals with his displays in the centre, and another month of top performances could leave him with several options to choose from when pondering his club future.

GREGORY VAN DER WIEL | Ajax & Netherlands, Defender, 24

The full-back has admitted that his time with Ajax is all but over, with his contract up in June 2013 and no intention from the player to extend the deal.

Talks with Valencia seem to have broken down, while he has also turned down Roma. Real Madrid are still heavily linked with an approach, while there is also significant interest coming from England. Van der Wiel is likely to get a decent run in the Dutch side over the next month, meaning there will be plenty of chances for him to catch the eye of potential future employers.

ANDRIY VORONIN | Dinamo Moscow & Ukraine, Forward, 32

The former Liverpool striker has announced that he is almost certain to leave Dinamo Moscow after losing his place in the team. His stay in the east of Europe looks set to come to an end, with the forward likely to hold out for a return to the west of the continent.

It now remains to be seen what sort of impact Voronin can have with the co-hosts in order to attract further attention. At the age of 32, he is unlikely to receive too many long-term offers, so a big finals tournament could see him rewarded with a final fling in one of the leading leagues in Europe.
