Fabio Capello and John Terry look destined to make it to Euro 2012 despite recent controversy
Both Fabio Capello and John Terry have grabbed the headlines for the wrong reasons in the last week but the pair are still odds on to take their places at Euro 2012

John Terry may have hogged the headlines at the tail-end of last week but with Fabio Capello publically wading into the England captaincy debate, Sportingbet best price 6/1 (7.00) that the Italian will no longer be holding the reins come Euro 2012.
With just four months until the competition gets under way, that prospect might have seemed like a long shot until Capello opposed the FA decision on Italian television over the weekend.
Former FA Chief David Davies’ assessment, that English football’s governing body was taking the comments “extremely seriously” and that the former Real Madrid boss might even have breached his contract, must surely give punters pause for thought.
In turn, Sportingbet are also offering a market on whether Terry himself will be a part of the trip to Poland and Ukraine, with 5/4 (2.25) on offer for the Chelsea skipper to miss out and 4/7 (1.57) saying he’ll retain his place.
Either man could yet choose to walk away, rather than suffer further humiliation at the hands of the FA, but Capello remains 1/12 (1.08) to see out his contract as planned.
The prospect of finding a replacement mid-season – and with so few friendly games for any new man to prepare for the tournament – will likely ensure even the most enraged FA board member calls a truce with the England manager.
With the support of Capello, surely Terry will again be a key part of the Three Lions' defence, especially with so few clear rivals for his England shirt. His popularity with fellow squad members could yet add a twist, but only further controversy seems likely to deny the duo their seats on the plane to Euro 2012.
