The All India Football Federation (AIFF) have decided to discontinue the Pailan Arrows project starting from the 2013-14 season.

The Pailan Group failed to respect the financial commitments made to the Indian FA which left the latter with no choice but to annul the contract between the two parties.

“It is confirmed. The reason is the sponsor is unable to continue with the team. His financial position has gone from bad to worse. Whatever commitments they had made, they couldn’t fulfil. Hence it was decided not to continue with the team,” Subhankar Mukherjee, Director of National Teams, told GOAL.

On being asked on the fate of the players who are contracted with Pailan Arrows for the coming season, Mukherjee said, “The decision has just been taken about 30 minutes back. Let us sit with Kushal Das (The AIFF general secretary) and decide how to tackle this. There are some players who are still in demand with the clubs. What to do with the rest of the players, is what we will have to decide. How to loan or release to the other clubs has to be done. That is to be decided. We will seek legal advice."

As per the revised agreement between the two parties, the Pailan Group had to submit the first installment by the 25th of this month which they failed to do.

“Only yesterday, they told us that they were unable to pay. If they are unable to meet the commitment, then we can’t help it," Mukherjee added.
