The All India Football Federation (AIFF), IMG-Reliance and the I-League clubs are to convene on August 23 in Mumbai with the promotion of the I-League being one of the primary agendas.
Praful Patel, the AIFF president, had asked for a meeting to be held wherein the marketing plan for the I-League will be shared by IMG-Reliance in the presence of six AIFF officials, namely Subrata Dutta, Larsing Ming, Shrinivas Dempo, K Mather, Kushal Das and Sunando Dhar. He also wants IMG-Reliance and the clubs to end their scuffle for good and understand each other’s perspective which shall only help football in the country progress efficiently.
“On the advice of our commercial partners IMG-R, we think it would be appropriate to have an informal meeting with the I-League clubs participating in the 2013-14 season to discuss plans regarding promotion, marketing and conduct of the I-League,” Kushal Das, the AIFF general secretary, wrote.
It must be noted that several clubs have voiced their angst over the cramped schedule of the I-League wherein from November 28, 2013 to January 12, 2014, there are eleven rounds of matches.
“Other matters, if any, relating to the football season may also be discussed in the meeting,” Das mentioned.
