Sporting Club de Goa were defeated 3-1 at home by Mohammedan Sporting in a round seven I-League encounter at the Duler Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Boima 'Jerry' Karpeh's 58th minute strike cancelled out Josimar's goal in the 32nd minute. However, Ajay Singh gave the visitor's the lead in the 71st minute while Josimar added another in the final two minutes of regulation time.

It must be noted that it was the Flaming Oranje who had scored in the 13th minute, but Rowllin Borges' goal was disallowed after Pratesh Shirodkar was deemed to have handled the ball in the build-up.

Commenting on the same, the home team's coach, Oscar Bruzon Barreras said, "The goal that wasn't allowed to us - once we got the goal, where he (referee Santhosh Kumar) was pointing to the center. The linesman (J. Tony) was up (had his flag risen). Suddenly a light came to their head! They (referee and linesman) stopped and they decide not to concede (allow) the goal.

"We played with a very good team. Their set of foreigners is excellent. I think that we were having control of the game in the first half, but after the decisions of the ref (referee) - five players were protesting and we were not allowed the goal. This caused a lack of concentration," he added.

The encounter between the two teams ended on a sour note as Karpeh lost his calm and furiously pushed Collin Abranches, leaving the referee with no other option than to send off the Sporting Goa striker.

However, Bruzon went on to explain, "I want to clarify what happened with Jerry. From the first half he was telling me that they (Mohammedan players) were calling him "nigger", "black". I told the ref (referee) at half time that this happened, but he didn't take any action on that."

"Collin Abranches was the one - three times he was calling Jerry a "nigger" and we told the referee, but he (referee) didn't listen to that. He (referee) only accumulated the problems against us, but the reaction of Jerry is incorrect," the Spaniard continued.

"Of course, the reaction is inappropriate, but it was because of the action. The action was when the players of Mohammedan were jumping on him and the only thing that we get is fouls against Jerry. Of course, Jerry had a very bad reaction. He should have had a cool mind. He should not have reacted. The problem is that and initially, the problem is the ref (referee)."

After Karpeh was given the marching orders in the ordeal, Israil Gurung got himself embroiled in a war of words with the Goan team's bench.

"I want to tell as well [that] Israil came to my dugout and he was telling 'f*****g your mother...all foreigners come from here' and the fourth official (Balasubramaniam) was there," Bruzon further alleged.
