thumbnail Hello,

The Spanish coach is pleased that they won their very first home game in the I-League on Thursday…

Sporting Clube  de Goa are in rich vein of form having won each of their last three fixtures. They downed Rangdajied United 3-0 with goals from Ogba Kalu Nnanna, Deepak Devrani and Boima Karpeh.

Coach Oscar Bruzon Barreras backed his side to come good against any team in the league should they remain committed and put in a top shift consistently.

“We were concentrating on this game as it was our first game at home. As I told you earlier, we were playing well last season but not taking points. So now the situation is reverted. We are playing well, we're taking results but we fully know that we are not the top team.  We are a modest team. We need to put a 120 percent in every game and at the moment by doing that I can say that we can beat everybody in
the league,” he stated.

The Flaming Oranje should have scored more goals but wasted several opportunities that came their way.

“Scoring a few more goals could have seen us in second position, but that is only a psychological thing. That is not important, but we are working well. From five games we are having 10 points. From those seven are from playing most of our games outside (away).

“Now we need to be ready because what is coming is really tough. Mohammedan [Sporting] is improving and Pune [FC], East Bengal...this is talking about big teams. But as I'm telling you, if we work with
the stability and the direction that we are taking, we can beat anyone,” he reiterated.

On being asked if it was a blessing in disguise to play their first four matches away from home, Bruzon stated that one must make it a point to see the bright side of things.

“I try to put everything in a positive light. That means that, for me playing four games away, we were very concerned that we took some points because playing the next four games at home will take out a lot of pressure for our side. Now it's an advantage because we took the points in our away games. Of
course, playing against Pune FC, East Bengal, I totally prefer playing here in Goa. Not only because of the ground, but also because of the weather,” he mentioned.

Sporting next face Mohammedan Sporting on Sunday and it wasn't a surprise that Bruzon asked his side to go easy in the second half against Rangdajied in order to conserve some energy.

“I don't want to have an excess of happiness. We have a very important game on Sunday. Last season we were working to get out from the relegation area. This season will be fighting for victories only,” he said.
