The midfielder scored Liverpool’s second goal as they defeated Bolton 2-0 at the Reebok Stadium yesterday and was later named in Fabio Capello’s England squad.
However, his club have now confirmed that Gerrard will miss the match after picking up a knock against Bolton which could see him out of action for up to two weeks.
A statement by Liverpool FC spokesman Ian Cotton on the club’s official website said: “Steven picked up an injury in yesterday's game at Bolton. A scan this morning has confirmed a tear in the adductor magnus muscle in his right leg, and he is expected to be out between seven to 10 days.”
Gerrard joins Manchester United pair Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand who will also miss the clash with Germany through injury.
Skipper John Terry is also a doubt with a foot injury picked up in yesterday’s clash with West Bromwich Albion, and the Chelsea defender is set to have a scan today to determine the extent of the problem.
