The boss of the French side believes that they could not have drawn a harder opponent than the Serie A champions

Olympique Lyonnais head coach Remi Garde believes that his side have been pitched against the favourites for the Europa League crown as they face Juventus in the quarter-finals of the competition.

The French club defeated Viktoria Plzen 5-3 on aggregate to progress to the last eight, yet the former Arsenal midfielder is wary of the challenge that the Turin giants will pose.

“We have drawn the favourites of the competition, one of the best teams in Europe with a strong history,” he told the media. “This is a very tough draw but it is an event for the club, for the team. We have nothing to lose, we will be the outsiders. We must take things in a positive manner. We must be conscious of the chance we have.”

The 47-year-old felt this was a tie worthy of the Champions League.

“It seems so. We will face prodigious opponents who OL have never met before. That's interesting," he added.

“I do not think the players will need to be motivated to play Juventus or to play other games in the coming weeks. The most important thing is to recover well. I just hope to have my squad at its maximum during this period.”

Lyon have a number of injury headaches going into Sunday’s league match with Guingamp, as Clement Grenier is expected to be sidelined, while Samuel Umtiti and Gueida Fofana are certainly missing.
