The 39-year-old has warned the club not to get carried away with the recent "euphoria" surrounding their wins against Juventus & CS Pandurii last weekVincezo Montella has warned Fiorentina not to believe their own hype as they prepare to face Chievo on Sunday.
The Viola are not only fresh from beating Juventus 4-2 through a Giuseppe Rossi hat-trick, but they also maintained a perfect Europa League record with a 3-0 win over Romania’s CS Pandurii last Thursday.
Yet Montella, 39, is wary of just how quickly results can change in football and insists supporters and players must not get carried away.
‘‘Excessive euphoria risks becoming counter-productive, whereas enthusiasm can only do us good. Above all, one thing must be very clear: absolute concentration against Chievo,” Montella said at the club’s official press conference.
‘‘The way we prepare for this game must not be different from how we approached Juventus.’’
Montella also took the time to acknowledge the difficulty of Sunday’s clash but believes his players are up to the task of continuing the club’s good run.
‘‘Tomorrow’s match will be very difficult, certainly more than the one with Pandurii. Chievo know how to soak up pressure and are strong technically with a charismatic coach.’’
‘‘As things stand, I am satisfied with the way the team has progressed. The lads are great professionals and are getting better all the time.”
Fiorentina currently sit sixth in Serie A with 15 points and lie nine points adrift of league leaders Roma.
