Hannover managing director Joerg Schmadtke has revealed that he would welcome a tie against Manchester United in the last 32 of the Europa League.

The draw for the knockout stages will be held in Nyon on Friday at 13.00CET and Schmadtke is not afraid of being paired with the reigning Premier League champions.

"I would have no problem with it if we would get drawn against Manchester United," he told Goal.com.

"I think this is an attractive trip against a more attractive opponent with a beautiful stadium.”

Hannover, who are currently eighth in the Bundesliga, progressed to the last 32 of the Europe League as runners-up to Standard Liege in Group B after finishing with 11 points from their six games.

Sir Alex Ferguson's United suffered a shock exit from the Champions League when a defeat away at Basel saw them slip to third place in Group C.
