Brazilian midfielder squandered a golden opportunity in the final in Dublin on Wednesday evening but remains proud of his team’s achievement this season
Braga went into the half-time interval of their Europa League final in Dublin 1-0 behind, but could have restored parity a minute after the restart when substitute Mossoro found himself with the ball after a mistake from Porto’s Rolando but failed to get his shot past goalkeeper Helton.
Reflecting on that missed chance after the game, the 27-year-old said, according to Record: “The move was too fast and I had to think very quickly. I tried to get the ball past him [Helton] but he saved it.”
Despite the defeat to their Portuguese rivals, Mossoro remains proud of his team’s performance in Europe this season and enthused: “We are a team of warriors and we could have won the title.”
This was Braga’s first ever appearance in the final of a European club competition. They finished the 2010-11 Portuguese league campaign fourth in the table and will return to the Europa League next season.
