Midfielder is disappointed by failing to win the competition after reaching the final but remains happy with their performance in Europe

Braga midfielder Custodio believes that they should be proud of themselves despite losing the final of the Europa League 1-0 to Porto on Wednesday evening.

Radamel Falcao’s goal a minute before the half-time interval proved to be the difference between the two teams in Dublin, leaving Custodio bitterly disappointed.

“After coming all the way to the final of the Europa League, it hurts to lose it,” said the 27-year-old, according to Record. “But despite the defeat, we must be satisfied with our performance.

“Earlier this season, nobody believed that we could be playing in the final. The final was decided by details. I want to congratulate Porto.”

This was Braga’s first ever appearance in the final of a European club competition. They finished the 2010-11 Portuguese league campaign fourth in the table and will return to the Europa League next season.
