Midfielder reflects on what has been a sensational season for the Portuguese side and believes that irrespective of the result in Dublin, they should be proud of themselves
Ahead of their Europa League showdown against fellow Portuguese side Porto in Dublin on Wednesday evening, Braga captain Vandinho has hailed his team-mates and says that they are in the final by no fluke.
Braga have reached the finale of a European competition for the first time in their history and got past the challenge of Portuguese giants Benfica in the last four. They have been the surprise package in Europe but Vandinho insists that they fully deserve to be reaping the rewards.
"We have always taken one game at a time, always believing that anything was possible," said the midfielder, according to Uefa.com. "We have played as a team and displayed the warrior spirit that made us famous. We had to work very hard and that was the only way to make this final."
Vandinho also believes that reaching the final is an achievement in itself and said: "Whatever happens this group is to be congratulated and we will leave the pitch with our heads held high.
“Just getting to the final is a victory. That said, we want to be champions."
