The Scottish Third Division leaders were booed off at the final whistle after a disappointing 0-0 draw with Stirling Albion and a performance that left their manager frustrated

Rangers manager Ally McCoist was disappointed by his team's inability to score against Stirling Albion, and described his players' performance as "miles short" of what he expects.

The Glasgow club, who now lead the Scottish Third Division by 21 points, lost their previous home fixture 2-1 to Annan Athletic, and despite having all but secured the title, they failed to satisfy the Ibrox crowd on Saturday.

McCoist's side started positively with efforts from striker Kane Hemmings and left-back Lee Wallace, but the best chance of the game fell to Jordan White, whose header was cleared off the line.

McCoist told Sky Sports: "It was a disappointing 90 minutes for everybody. It was not a good game at all.

"From our own point of view, our best chances were probably early on. Kane had a couple and Lee had a chance. After that, it was just a frustrating 90 minutes.

"If we are going to take a positive, which I always will look for as well, we have had a couple of clean sheets.

"But in terms of creating chances and taking chances, we are miles short of where we want to be."

Even a win would not have guaranteed Gers the Third Division crown, after second-placed Queen's Park's game at Annan was postponed due to heavy snow.

Despite the former Ibrox forward's irritation, however, he did cite a lack of squad depth as a mitigating factor.

Striker Francisco Sandaza is currently suspended for an off-field incident, while fellow frontman Andy Little is on international duty with Northern Ireland. Central midfielder Ian Black is also serving a ban.

But regardless of these concerns, McCoist insists that the club is in no real trouble, as long as they win the Third Division title.

He added: "We have to win the title, which is what we set out to do at the start of the year. Then we have to get a team that will win the next title, albeit we don't know what title it will be."
