Eto'o set make 100th European appearance

Eto'o set make 100th European appearance

Latest Extra Time: Norwegian player trains with painted face Previous Next Lucas attacks 'very dangerous' Nancy tackle

The 32-year-old is likely to bring up the milestone during his side's Europa League clash with Newcastle this week

Anzhi Makhachkala striker Samuel Eto’o is set to make his 100th European appearance against Newcastle at St James' Park on Thursday.

The Cameroon international is expected to start for the Russian side on Thursday in the first-leg of their last 16 Europa League clash, having scored 14 goals in 30 appearances this season.

“I’ve been lucky enough with my career and what I’ve done so far,” the former Barcelona and Inter man told Uefa.com.

“Records are important for any player but the most important thing for me is to look at the number of games played and the number of goals scored."

Eto’o has found the back of the net 44 times in his 99 appearances,  while picking up three Champions League winner's medals and he is hoping to cap the current campaign off with yet more silverware.

“It has been excellent so far, but what would top that would be to win it. The goal is to go as far as possible and why not reach the final.”
