The 19-year-old returned to France in January but has his eyes set on extending his stay with his temporary employers

M’Baye Niang has expressed his desire to stay at Montpellier for another season rather than head back to AC Milan.

Niang moved to relegation-threatened Montpellier on a six-month loan deal in January after failing to secure regular playing time at the San Siro and has gone on to score three goals in 11 Ligue 1 appearances.

"I hope to stay in Montpellier. I love this club, it is a family,” said Niang, speaking to

The youngster, who played in France with Caen before moving to Italy in 2012, has marked the final eight league games as his chance to extend his stay into next season.

Niang continued: “When I signed in January I said that I wanted to play here at least another season and this statement is even more true today.

“I want to repay the trust that this club has had in me. Now I have eight matches to convince. It's as if I am on trial at Montpellier.”
