Ancelotti a safe bet for Madrid, says Vieri

The 39-year-old believes his compatriot is exactly what the Liga giants need following the departure of Jose Mourinho to Chelsea
Former Italy international Christian Vieri says Carlo Ancelotti would be the perfect replacement for Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.

The Paris Saint-Germain coach is sitting in pole position for the vacant position at Madrid following Mourinho's departure to Chelsea and his compatriot has little doubt the 54-year-old would do well at the Liga giants.

"Ancelotti is a great coach. He does well wherever he goes. He's a safe bet," Vieri was quoted as saying by EFE.

"I can see him make the move to Spain. He's been a winner in Italy, England and France. You might say he can be a winner wherever he goes.

"Ancelotti is a quiet guy who would help calm things down at the Santiago Bernabeu, which is very important. He would do a great job at Madrid."

PSG have so far been reluctant to let go of Ancelotti, but Madrid remain confident of getting their man and have yet to look at alternatives since Jupp Heynckes ruled himself out of the running.
