The Tottenham winger has been key to his side's run to the final, netting three times, and is now doubtful for Sunday's clash with Brazil at Wembley Stadium.
"Unfortunately, he has a muscle injury," Tena told reporters after the win. "[We] don't know the magnitude of the injury yet, we have to wait and run some tests.
"He's doubtful at this point. We have to find out."
El Tricolor have reached their first Olympic final and Tena admitted that he was delighted with his players' efforts and the reaction that they had provoked in Mexico.
"The players have a new mentality," he added. They want to play abroad now, they have no complexes and they want to succeed.
"I'm happy that we've been able to provoke such euphoria in such a soccer-mad country as ours."
