Brazil - South Korea Betting Preview: Back South Americans to move closer to gold medal

Mano Menezes' men are red-hot favourites to progress to the final of the men's Olympic football at London 2012 and Willie Duncan is backing the Selecao to win in style on Tuesday
South Korea produced something of an upset when they defeated Stuart Pearce’s Team GB in the quarter-finals of the men’s Olympic football on penalties at the weekend, but Hong Myung-Bo knows that his side will need to produce an even bigger shock if they are to participate in Saturday's gold medal match.

The South Koreans will face tournament favourites Brazil on Tuesday night and they are chalked up at a massive 11/2 (6.50) with William Hill to spring a huge surprise and take victory.

Brazil have been in scintillating form throughout the tournament, notching three goals in all four of their matches thus far and are priced up at 4/9 (1.44) with William Hill to see off the challenge posed by Tuesday’s opponents. The same firm offer 3/1 (4.0) that the match finishes level after 90 minutes.

Injury problems are piling up for Myung-Bo’s side with goalkeeper Jung Sung-Ryong and right-back Kim Chang-Soo the latest injury casualties.

The immensity of the task facing the Red Devils is underlined by the 4/1 (5.0) offer from William Hill for South Korea to qualify for the final while their more illustrious opponents are chalked up at just 1/7 (1.14) to progress.

Mano Menezes is spoilt for choice in the striking department and is likely to go with a formidable front three of Leandro Damiao, Neymar and Hulk.

Neymar has scored three goals in the tournament so far and it is no surprise to see the Santos striker heading William Hill’s first goalscorer market at 7/2 (4.50).

It is worth noting that Damiao was on target twice in Brazil’s 3-2 quarter-final triumph over Honduras and the Internacional striker is a juicy 4/1 (5.0) with William Hill to score first, while the same firm offer a tempting 10/11 (1.91) that the front man scores at any time while Hulk is chalked up at 9/2 (5.50) with William Hill to score first.

After facing an exhausting 120-minute battle with Team GB, South Korea cannot be looking forward to facing the might of Brazil and the 13/10 (2.30) for the South Americans (-1) in the handicap market is worthy of support here while Damiao is excellent value at 4/1 (5.0) to bag Tuesday's opener and fire the Selecao one step closer to a first-ever Olympic gold medal.

Brazil (-1) to win at 13/10 (2.30) with William Hill
Leandro Damiao to score first at 4/1 (5.0) with William Hill
