Karim Bencherifa: Sooner or later the team will start converting the chances

The Mariners' coach doesn’t believe that his side have underperformed but was quick to add that there is enough for improvement…
Mohun Bagan have two points from their three away matches as they gear up to face Sporting Clube de Goa in the comforts of Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.

The red card to Echezona Anyechie in the last game against Pune FC means that he is suspended for the tie while Adil Khan is still recovering from viral fever.

“Adil [Khan] was down with viral fever for two weeks, but he is back in training from last week. Eche (Echezona Anyichie) is a huge suspension and he will be out for the next game which will be a hit for us,” he told Goal.

Having scored just once this season, the Kolkata outfit have found it very difficult in finding the back of the net. Bencherifa acknowledged the same and said, “Yes, (goals are difficult to come) because we mostly score with him (Odafa Okolie). But on the other hand, we do create a lot of chances and we should score more goals from them. I'm sure that sooner or later the team will start converting those chances.”

The Moroccan, upon reflection, believes that the two points his side have from the games against Bengaluru FC and Churchill Brothers were good results.

“I think if you look at our performance, we have a point away against the team which has 10 points now, which is Bengaluru FC, who are performing very well. We have an away draw against a Churchill [Brothers], the team who were champions of last season; we were a good match in the game against Pune FC until we (Anyichie) got the red card. We still conceded the first goal from set-pieces. So overall, we are not doing badly but of course, we can do better.”
