The All India Football Federation (AIFF), their marketing and commercial partners IMG-Reliance and the I-League clubs had an informal meeting on Friday where it was decided that the marketing committee, which came into existence during the gathering, shall ponder on ways to promote the country's premier league.

"We discussed about the I-League. They (IMG-Reliance) explained to us about the promotion of the I-League, so there are good hopes," said the president of the I-League Professional Clubs' Association (IPFCA) Raj Gomes after the meeting.

Dempo SC official, Abhijit Patil further explained, "IMG-Reliance had a presentation in which they outlined how they are going to market the I-League. They gave us collaterals of how they are going to market [the I-League] - like the television, radio, outdoor, new media and PR agencies.

"Nothing regarding the IMG-Reliance league was discussed," he added.

Besides the marketing committee, there will be a scheduling committee which will look into the issues concerning the cramped fixture list.

Also expressing his satisfaction with the developments, United Sports Club's Siddhartha Bhattacharya feels that IMG-Reliance should be given credit for wanting to raise the profile of the I-League.

"We should be grateful to IMG-Reliance for thinking to make the I-League a successful product. We believe that I-League is a successful product and now it's a very good thing for Indian football that IMG-Reliance has taken an interest in the I-League," he said.

"It was good to see that they sat with the clubs and are reassuring us that everything is going fine. They want to develop the league for which they should be given credit."
