Sporting Clube de Goa have captured the signatures of midfielder Arturo Navarro García and center-back Gonzalo Hinojal Neila, GOAL can reveal.
As earlier revealed by GOAL, the Panjim-based outfit were close to registering central defender Gonzalo Caicedo Verdú. However, a source close to the club has conceded that the Gonzalo who has returned to Spain suffered from a "culture shock".
"Gonzalo (Caicedo Verdú) suffered a culture shock and the club had no option than to release the player," the source said.
"We have signed Gonzalo (Hinojal Neila) for this season," the club's CEO, Victor Fernandes confirmed.
Arturo's agent meanwhile informed about the signing of the 24-year-old who can play a versative role in the midfield. "Arturo is settled with Sporting Clube de Goa," Kuldeep Sharma confirmed.
"Both Arturo and Gonzalo played for the same team before," he added, referring to Sporting Goa's two new signings' stint with Spanish second division side Club Deportivo Guijuelo.
Arturo Navarro García has been a champion with Valencia CF youth ranks and in 2008 made his senior team debut under coach Unai Emery in an official match of the Copa del Rey. He was also included in the club's squad for the 2009-10 Europa League quarter-final match against Atletico Madrid.
Gonzalo Hinojal Neila started his youth career in 2003 before moving up into the Spanish third division with Salamanca B, while the 27-year-old has been plying his trade in the second division since 2007 and last appeared for Zamora CF.
