A club insider told Goal.com on Tuesday: "The hope is it's an impact injury but he did not look too great last night."
Jones left Old Trafford on crutches, with a protective boot on the affected foot, and is expected to be out of action for Saturday's Premier League trip to QPR at least.
The former Blackburn starlet has a history of injuries at United, limping out of their 2-0 win over Everton earlier in February but returning in time to start the 1-1 draw with Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
His more serious medical problems have most recently included shingles but he also struggled with a back problem and had surgery on his knee in the early stages of the season.
