The Schalke captain has singled out Roy Hodgson's men as the outstanding candidates at next summer's competition and is looking forward to Tuesday's friendlyGermany international Benedikt Howedes believes that England are a force to be reckoned with at next year's World Cup in Brazil.
The Three Lions have not made it past the quarter-finals since the 1990 World Cup, yet Howedes feels they are one of the favourites to go all the way next summer.
"England have a good team. They are one of the favourites at the World Cup," Howedes was quoted as saying by Reviersport.
The defender then went on to discuss Tuesday's international friendly at Wembley and stressed that it will not be an easy game for Germany.
"The game against England will be a great match," he continued.
"We are really looking forward to playing at Wembley, even though we all realise it won't be easy to play there."
Germany recorded a 4-1 win over England last time they met at the 2010 World Cup.
