The stadium is  located in at Sao Lourenco da Mata in Recife’s metropolitan zone, just 19 kilometres away from Guararapes International Airport.


The stadium has been built from scratch and is part of a brand new complex which also includes restaurants, shopping centres and cinemas while 5,000 homes are expected to be built in the surrounding area as the Grande Recife region continues its renovation.

The stadium has solar panels fitted which will generate over 1 million watts of energy which will help power the arena on matchdays. When not filling the stadium, the energy will be used to power the homes of six million Brazilians.

Clube Nautico Capibaribe will move into the stadium at the beginning of July 2013

The stadium complex will also feature a university campus on site

Like several World Cup 2014 stadia, the arena is very energy efficient
