The legendary Selecao striker scored during a friendly match following a makeover of the stadium, between a team led by him and a Bebeto-captained selection
The iconic venue has been renovated ahead of World Cup 2014 for a sum believed to be in the region of €382 million
Ronaldo's team won 8-5 against a side led by Selecao legend Bebeto, thanks to a fantastic performance by their skipper, and he was delighted after participating in the match.
"Another stadium has been delivered. The Maracana is a symbol for football and I am so happy to be a part of this celebration," the three-time World Player of the Year told reporters.
"It was a last-minute thing but that's how it goes. We are happy with the result. The pitch is sensational. The stands are beautiful, so are the internal facilities, everything is really good."
The 1994 and 2002 World Cup-winner then voiced his belief that Brazil are still a force to be reckoned with in the world of football ahead of hosting the game's biggest tournament in 2014.
"Brazil is going to give a big lesson to the world and to those which didn't think it would be possible to hold this World Cup and Confederations Cup."
