Spain are the best in the world but they are not unbeatable, insists Benzema

The Real Madrid striker stressed Les Bleus must forget their Euro 2012 defeat at the hands of La Roja, adding that he hopes to be playing against Sergio Ramos as he knows his game
France forward Karim Benzema has acknowledged that Spain are the best side in the world, but insists they are not unbeatable.

Didier Deschamps' side travel to Madrid on Tuesday to take on the reigning world and European champions in their World Cup qualifier, and though Benzema concedes it will be a tough encounter, he is confident Les Bleus can leave the Vicente Calderon with a positive result.

"They are the best team in the world - they've won everything there is to win," he told reporters at a press conference.

"I play with a lot of international players at Madrid, so I know what quality is. Having said that, I don't think they are unbeatable, this is not mission impossible. It's still 11 against 11."

Benzema, who has played for the current Spanish champions since his switch from Lyon in 2009, added that he was hoping to play against Blancos team-mate Sergio Ramos as he understands the working of his game.

"I've been getting messages from a few of the lads, especially Sergio Ramos, who's a good friend of mine," he continued. "I would rather be up against him than Gerard Pique or Carles Puyol, because I know him better."

The 24-year-old also defended Spain and Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas after recent criticism, stating:
"He's one of the best players in the world, that's all that needs to be said on the matter."

Spain beat France 2-0 en route to their Euro 2012 triumph, but Benzema insists that defeat has no bearing on the upcoming clash, at a ground he considers a tough place to play football.

"We lost this game but it doesn't mean anything, that competition is now over. Now we have to try and win in the Calderon," he continued.

"This game is different as it's an international game, but the Calderon is always a difficult place to go, whether you are playing against Spain or Atletico Madrid."
