thumbnail Hello,

The Brazilian says he is loving life in Germany after a number of years playing in the Bundesliga. The 27-year-old also had nothing but praise for former club Dortmund

New Schalke signing Felipe Santana says he wants to apply for a German passport in the coming years, after plying his trade in the Bundesliga for the past five seasons.

The 27-year-old, who played an important role in helping former club Dortmund reach this season's Champions League final, says he is loving life in Germany.

"I had inquiries from abroad but I wanted to stay in the Bundesliga," Santana told Bild.

"I feel
very well in Germany and now speak the language. I also want to apply for a German passport in a few years."

Santana spoke glowingly of his time with Dortmund, in which he won back-to-back league titles in 2011 and 2012. He admits it was difficult leaving the club after five memorable years there.

"It was very difficult. I had five great years at Borussia Dortmund and wish them only the best. I'll never forget the time there,"  he continued.

"A piece of BVB will always remain in my heart. I can only say, thank you for everything."

With Schalke and die Schwarzgelben huge rivals, Santana admits it may be hard winning the supporters over to begin with, adding that he is unsure whether he will remain living in Dortmund.

"A new beginning is always difficult," he added. "It was no different in Dortmund. But I will fight and give everything for Schalke. I want to win over the hearts of the Schalke fans.

"I have not decided yet if I will stay in Dortmund. Maybe I'm moving to Dusseldorf. I have many friends in Dortmund with whom I will definitely stay in touch if I do leave."
