The central defender has spent the 2011-2012 season on the bench, overshadowed by Subotic and Hummels, but he is still mulling over a move away from the German championsDefender Felipe Santana has admitted he is facing a quandary after being offered a new contract as a back up at German champions Borussia Dortmund, after receiving numerous offers from other Bundesliga sides proposing more regular football.
The Brazilian has seen his playing time gradually diminish at Dortmund as the partnership of Serbian international Neven Subotic and 23-year-old German counterpart Mats Hummels proved the bedrock of Jurgen Klopp's side this season.
Approached by Hoffenheim, VfB Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen in the past weeks for a transfer in the region of €4 million, Santana has now been asked to choose between moving elsewhere in Germany or staying put at his club as sporting director Michael Zorc offered him a contract extension this week.
"Mentally it's tough when you know there are two players ahead of you with a secure spot in the starting line up. I naturally want to play, therefore I'll take some time to discuss [the situation] with my family and my agent and make the best decision," Felipe told Bild.
His future is expected to become clear by the end of next week.
