thumbnail Hello,

The positive news about the fast recovery of the attacker has been dampened by the loss of the holding midfielder for his country's midweek friendly with France

Borussia Dortmund's Mario Gotze is set to return to training in two weeks, the club has announced on their official website.

Bayern Munich club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt, a world leader in the treatment of sports injuries, concluded in late January that the cartilage in the 19-year-old's hip had inflamed under stress, and it was speculated that the attacker could be out for as long as two months.

The physician confirmed, however, that Gotze is expected to start jogging again in two weeks, and will soon return to playing.

"I am delighted that things are looking up and the inflammation has subsided," the attacker is quoted as saying on the club's official website.

The news from the treatment table was not so positive for Sven Bender, though, as the holding midfielder is set to miss out on Germany's friendly with France on Wednesday.

Just five minutes into Dortmund's 3-1 win over Hannover on Sunday, the Germany international was kicked in the face by Mame Biram Diouf and was substituted with his nose bleeding and his right eye swollen shut. Tests on Monday revealed he had not sustained a fracture, but in a press conference, Germany coach Joachim Low ruled the player out of Wednesday's match.

On their official website, Dortmund confirmed that the player is expected to return to action shortly, and could even play against Mainz on Saturday.
