The trainer was pleased that his team managed to bag the three points as the reigning German champions maintained their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table
A solitary goal by Shinji Kagawa proved to be the difference between last season's champions and last season's runner-ups as BVB tightened their grip on the first spot in the table.
The coach admitted that he never expected a high-scoring game, and stated that he is just happy that his team managed to bag the three points.
"It was clear from the very beginning that we will not score a lot of goals against them", Klopp said to Liga Total after the match.
"We just wanted to win. We've done that, and indeed our triumph is well deserved."
Returning midfielder Sven Bender echoed his coach sentiments, stating that the game between BVB and B04 was a match between equals.
"Leverkusen have a very strong team, and possess enormous amount of quality. It was a game of equals. Nevertheless, I think we are worthy winners, because we had the better chances. However, Bayer certainly gave us a run for our money."
Borussia Dortmund stand at the summit of the table with 46 points, two more than second-placed Bayern Munich.
