Jurgen Klopp's men are currently third in the table and the Germany legend does not expect them to claim top spot between now and the end of the season
BVB were determined to challenge Bayern for the title again this season after they finished 25 points behind their rivals in 2012-13, yet they have struggled to get going in the first half of this campaign.
Jurgen Klopp's men currently sit third in the Bundesliga table with 31 points from 15 games, trailing leaders Bayern by 10 points and Beckenbauer is adamant that the Bavarians are already too far ahead to catch.
"I really cannot imagine Bayern giving away a 10-point lead over Dortmund," Beckenbauer told Bild.
"Bayern have the strength in depth to cope with injuries and suspensions, but Dortmund don't have that luxury. They are unable to deal with absent stars."
Dortmund are currently without first-team regulars such as Mats Hummels, Neven Subotic, Marcel Schmelzer and Ilkay Gundogan among others due to injury.
