thumbnail Hello,

Despite the news of Robert Lewandowski's impending summer arrival, the attacker says he wants to end his career at the club and targets Champions League glory again this term

Mario Mandzukic has made it clear that he has no intention of leaving Bayern Munich and would be happy to stay at his current club until the end of his career.

The Croatia international, 27, has developed into a key player at Bayern since joining from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2012, but the expected arrival of Robert Lewandowski at the end of this season has cast doubt over his future at the club.

Nevertheless, Mandzukic, whose contract ends in the summer of 2016, has stressed that he is keen to stay at the reigning Bundesliga champions for the remainder of his career.

"If it's up to me, I'm ending my career at Bayern," Mandzukic told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We are a family, that is our strength. The team, the bosses, the employers. I'm very happy to be a part of it."

The Bavarians have made a promising start to their Champions League defence with a 3-0 victory over CSKA Moscow in Group D, and Mandzukic is hoping to go into the history books at Bayern.

"We have become even stronger. We are very focused and we have a great coach," he added.

"We want to win everything again this season and become the first team to defend the Champions League title."
