The Netherlands star believes the club should look to add a game-changing player in the mould of the Bayern Munich duo to their ranks this summer
The Netherlands international believes that the club are currently lacking an added creative spark in their side and feels that the Roten duo would make a huge difference to Thorsten Fring’s lineup.
“We are missing a player like Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery,” he told reporters.
“[A player] who is individually strong enough to be a game changer if a decision does not work. We need players with experience and a winning mentality.
“Our goal is Europe and if you want to achieve something, you also are not afraid to say it.”
The 30-year-old also feels that attacker Heung-Min Son should stay and continue his development at Imtech Arena, despite reported interest from sides across the continent.
“Here he can develop into the best, [but] he needs a lot more experience," Van der Vaart added.
