Draxler destined for stardom, says Heldt
The Germany midfielder has caught the attention of several big foreign clubs, but his current team are determined to hold on to him
Schalke general manager Horst Heldt believes that Julian Draxler has a bright future ahead of him and wants to hold on to the attacking midfielder for as long as possible. The Germany international, 19, has been in sublime form this season and has recently been linked with clubs such as AC Milan, Juventus and Arsenal.
But Heldt says he wants to keep the creative midfielder at the Konigsblauen for the foreseeable future.
"He breaks one record after another. If he continues like this, he will have a great career, and could become absolutely world-class," Heldt told Bild.
"We want him to stay here as long as possible. We have to make sure that he feels well at the club. Qualifying for the Champions League again would help."
Draxler's current contract with Schalke is due to expire in the summer of 2016.
