Robben: Small details will decide Borussia Dortmund clash

Robben: Small details will decide Borussia Dortmund clash

Latest Beckenbauer: Bayern do not need Lewandowski Previous
By Stefan Coerts
25-Feb-2013 6:30:00 PM

The Netherlands international has warned that BVB will prove to be tough opponents, but is determined to progress in the DFB Pokal

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is eagerly anticipating the DFB Pokal quarter-final clash against Borussia Dortmund and expects a tight match.

The Bavarians have been struggling against BVB in recent years, but are unbeaten in their previous two clashes this season, and Robben is desperate to progress to the semi-finals at the expense of Dortmund.

"It’s going to be a tight game. It will be decided by the little details," Robben was quoted as saying on the official Bundesliga website.

"The important thing is we get to the final of the cup. We want to win titles and if Dortmund stand in the way of us reaching Berlin, then we just have to beat them.

"What happened last season is behind us now. We’re into a new season and there are new titles to be won - and we’ve got to be there when it matters."

Wednesday's encounter is scheduled to kick off at 20:30CET.

Champions League Live: Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund
German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will battle it out at Wembley for European glory. Get involved by sending us your thoughts via Twitter (Goal_India_) or Facebook!

Brendon Netto: I think Reus and Muller will have big roles tonight. Muller strings things together for Bayern in the final third and will look to track back and hound Gundogan so he doesn't have the freedom to organize Dortmund's attacks. Reus on the other will be all important to Dortmund on the counter-attack.
11:07 PM IST
Surya Solanki: The midfield battle will be intriguing. I don't expect Reus to track back much, hence, Bayern can easily dominate possession. On the other hand, Dortmund's counter-attacks will also be crucial. If Bayern's full-back regularly venture in the final third, then Dortmund could find immense joy on breaks.

Looking at the line-ups, where do you think the game can be won and why?
11:06 PM IST
Brendon Netto: I think those are the exact line-ups that would have been predicted before the game. Great to see that there aren't any late injuries or exclusions. I think we can expect to see both sides at pretty much full strength.
11:05 PM IST
Harsh Shah: Both lineups are just as expected. With both sides sporting a 4-2-3-1 formation, this one promises to be a raucous finale, given Bayern could be expected to hold on to possession, with Dortmund looking to open them up with their trademark hollywood passes!
