Klopp hails 'outstandingly good' Dortmund

Klopp hails 'outstandingly good' Dortmund

Latest Beckenbauer: Bayern do not need Lewandowski Previous

The BVB coach has lauded his players after they comfortably overcame Eintracht Frankfurt despite Julian Schieber's red card, reserving special praise for hat-trick hero Marco Reus

Jurgen Klopp expressed his delight after Borussia Dortmund's 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, which came despite his side playing most of the fixture with 10 men.

Marco Reus scored a hat-trick for BVB as both sides saw players dismissed. Julian Schieber was sent off in the first half for the hosts, while Takashi Inui received his marching orders late on for the visitors. Dortmund's win ensures they remain second.

And coach Klopp was keen to stress the quality of his team's performance, particularly considering Schieber's red card.

"We have had three early red cards in our last four home games," the 45-year-old German told Ruhr Nachrichten.

"Particularly after a difficult match in Donetsk [a 2-2 Champions League draw], our performance today [Saturday] was outstandingly good. We were dramatically better tactically than against Hamburg [last week's 4-1 home defeat].

"From a week which started s**t, we've done really well."

Dortmund, already without Robert Lewandowski, who was red carded against Hamburg, will now have a another striker suspended after Schieber's two yellows, the second for an alleged elbow when challenging for the ball.

However, Klopp refused to blame the 24-year-old forward, instead focusing on the impressive contribution of Reus.

"I'm just sorry for Julian," the former Mainz trainer added.

"He wanted to help the team. Aerial battles are always difficult for strikers, and for the referee. No one wants to hurt the opponent in such situations.

"Overall it was a great performance against a really good opponent. All three of Reus' goals were outstanding. He has real class."

Borussia Dortmund now have 42 points from their 22 league games.

Champions League Live: Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund
German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will battle it out at Wembley for European glory. Get involved by sending us your thoughts via Twitter (Goal_India_) or Facebook!

We know that should Dortmund fail to win the title tonight, things will get difficult for them in future as many of their players shall leave. In that case, how can a team break the European superpower hegemony except for Arab and Russian money? Is there a way teams like Dortmund can sustain themselves?
10:47 PM IST
Aman Arora: Mario Gotze is a big miss for the game against his future club. His passing in between the lines behind Lewandowski and link up play with the wide players is extremely crucial to Dortmund's fast and fluid football. They dont have a natural no.10 today and that could be the difference between defeat and victory.

This is the venue where the final takes place. Soon to be filled with lots of Yellow and Red as supporters of both the finalists fill the Wembley Stadium!
10:43 PM IST
Shikharr Chandra: It will be a huge miss for Dortmund. Arguably their best player not only this season but the last season as well. His partnership with Reus and Lewandowski has been vital for Dortmund's success this season. It was his final chance to win over the Dortmund fans with a match winning performance tonight but that opportunity is gone as well.
10:42 PM IST
Harsh Shah: Extraordinary, isn't it, that Gotze will have to miss out owing to a hamstring injury just at the most opportune moment in a BVB fan's perspective. I have a feeling he will be sorely missed, strictly speaking football and ignoring the sub-plot of his already confirmed transfer to the Bavarians. The dimension he adds along with Reus is exemplary and has been instrumental to Dortmund's ride to the final. But if we are to cast our eye to the drama that might've unfolded if Gotze would've featured (transfer-wise), I feel we've saved a lot of talking points. Gotze with a 94th minute winner for Dortmund, or for that matter him missing a glaring chance in the dying stages to win it for Dortmund. Any of it could've caused a massive furore!!
