Bundesliga is more attractive now, insists Heldt
Schalke's sporting director has hailed the rise of Bundesliga and believes foreign stars are becoming increasingly tempted to ply their trade in Germany
Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt has hailed the rise of the Bundesliga and says that it is now able to attract the best foreign players.Germany's premier league competition recently caught the headlines with the appointment of Pep Guardiola as Bayern Munich's coach for next season.
With the league boasting higher average attendances than some of its rivals - and with the strong economic fundamentals of many of its clubs brought about through their financial conservatism - Heldt believes the Bundesliga is now becoming a more attractive option for foreign players.
"I think the attractiveness of the Bundesliga is higher than ever with respect to foreign players wishing to come to Germany," Heldt told a press conference.
"Just some weeks ago we talked and read alot about a new coach coming to FC Bayern next season in Pep Guardiola.
"This is the way I see it. Of course clubs have had to plan conservatively in financial terms however."
