The young midfielder has been tipped for greatness, and the Bavarians' director of football feels he could soon make the step up into the senior ranksSporting director Matthias Sammer believes that promising youngster Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is close to making his first team debut for Bayern Munich.
The 17-year-old, who joined Bayern from Brondby in 2012, is seen as one of the club's biggest talents and joined the senior squad for their training camp in Dubai during the winter break.
"We'll continue to bring on Pierre nice and steadily. He'll train with the first team. Everything else is up to him," Sammer told the official Bayern website.
"Pierre has become more stable and virile. He has every chance [of making his debut this season]. It's well known that Jupp Heynckes has a very, very good eye for young players."
The teenager, meanwhile, is very pleased with his development in recent months.
"I'm gaining new experiences every day and training with the first team is unbelievably valuable for my development.
"I've come another step closer to my dream of professional football. It's a stage on the journey but nothing more."
Hojbjerg has already represented Denmark at Under-19 level.
