The Santiago Bernabeu playmaker received nearly a third of the vote, putting him well ahead of Lazio's Miroslav Klose and Dortmund's Marco Reus
Mesut Ozil has been named the best German international by fans in a poll conducted by the German Football Federation (DFB).The 24-year-old Real Madrid midfielder, who received 32.5% of the vote, also won the DFB's award last season.
Ozil has started 76 Liga games since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2010, scoring 14 goals, and his performances have helped him to boost his profile in his homeland.
He won the Uefa Best Player of the Year award for 2011/12, and was on the shortlist for the 2011 Ballon d'Or.
The playmaker also secured two Man of the Match awards during Euro 2012, which saw the German national side reach the semi-final stage, eventually going out to Italy.
Lazio striker Miroslav Klose finished in second place, picking up 13.9% of the vote, while Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus came in third spot with 13.1%.
