Reus: Borussia Dortmund still have work to do

Reus: Borussia Dortmund still have work to do

Latest Beckenbauer: Bayern do not need Lewandowski Previous

The versatile attacker was very satisfied with his goal against Thomas Schaaf's side, but feels BVB are by no means in top form just yet

Marco Reus believes that Borussia Dortmund still have room for improvement in the wake of their 2-1 win over Werder Bremen in Friday's Bundesliga opener.

The Germany international was delighed to have opened the scoring against Bremen, but was quick to admit that BVB are not at the top of their game just yet.

"I don't think anybody can expect us to be at our very best from the beginning," Reus was quoted as saying on the official Dortmund website.

"We saw that we still have a great deal of work ahead of us, but it was important that we won the game.

"Of course I had dreamed of scoring on my debut and that was very important for me, but it was more important for the team. I had goosebumps and I don't think there is much more to say than that."

Dortmund resume Bundesliga action next Saturday with an away game versus Nurnberg.

10:48 PM IST
We know that should Dortmund fail to win the title tonight, things will get difficult for them in future as many of their players shall leave. In that case, how can a team break the European superpower hegemony except for Arab and Russian money? Is there a way teams like Dortmund can sustain themselves?
10:47 PM IST
Aman Arora: Mario Gotze is a big miss for the game against his future club. His passing in between the lines behind Lewandowski and link up play with the wide players is extremely crucial to Dortmund's fast and fluid football. They dont have a natural no.10 today and that could be the difference between defeat and victory.
10:45 PM IST
This is the venue where the final takes place. Soon to be filled with lots of Yellow and Red as supporters of both the finalists fill the Wembley Stadium!
10:43 PM IST
Shikharr Chandra: It will be a huge miss for Dortmund. Arguably their best player not only this season but the last season as well. His partnership with Reus and Lewandowski has been vital for Dortmund's success this season. It was his final chance to win over the Dortmund fans with a match winning performance tonight but that opportunity is gone as well.
