The Bavarian side's trainer has stressed that the Germany international cannot afford to lose his focus as mistakes are amplified when playing for the club on the big stageBayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has urged Jerome Boateng to step up his game on the big occasions if he is to improve his game.
The defender has been criticised for his tendency to lose focus and commit errors, and the Bavarian giants' trainer has insisted that he cannot afford to make big mistakes any more.
"Jerome Boateng has to minimise the amount of critical mistakes he makes," Heynckes was quoted as saying by Kicker. "You simply can not afford to make mistakes when you play for Bayern Munich.
"You are always going to be criticised if you make a big mistake in the DFB Pokal or Champions League finals.
"However, I'm confident that Boateng will improve."
The 23-year-old, who joined Bayern from Manchester City in the summer of 2011, also came in for criticism for making a series of errors with Germany during Euro 2012.
