thumbnail Hello,

The Bavarian club's chief underlined that he is not looking to sign a new right-back despite the recent injuries to two of their defenders

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has dismissed the idea that his side will sign a new full-back in the summer transfer window.

It had been suggested that the Bavarian giants were considering dipping back into the market after David Alaba and Rafinha both sustained lengthy injuries during the club's 3-2 friendly loss to Napoli on Friday.

However, Rummenigge has now quashed such stories, insisting that there is no need to sign defensive cover, with the club's first official match of the season still three weeks away.

"We will not bring in any near players at full-back," he told Bild. "Neither Alaba or Rahinha will be out for so long that they will not be back when the season starts.

"A transfer would be idiotic."

Bayern will lock horns with Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup on August 12, with their first Bundesliga contest, a trip to Greuther Furth, scheduled for August 24.
