Ozil and Khedira to arrive at German Euro 2012 training camp late

Due to a Real Madrid friendly match in Kuwait, the two stars are set to turn up five days after the rest of the squad, who will be preparing for this summer's tournament

Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira will arrive at Germany's Gdansk training camp late due to a Real Madrid friendly in Kuwait which clashes with the nation’s preparations for the European Championships.

The Spanish champions end their season this Saturday, but rather than meet with their international team-mates in Sardinia, Ozil and Khedira will fly to Kuwait to play in a friendly on May 16. Theoretically, the club could retain the duo until May 25, although they are expected to be released earlier.

After his appeal to the club was denied, Germany team manager Oliver Bierhoff has conceded there is nothing he can do to bring his players to the German camp earlier.

"We must accept the decision of Real Madrid. Complaining will not help, we must now make the most out of this situation," the former German international told Kicker.

The two players are contractually obliged to play the friendly match, which has also affected Spain and Portugal.

The European Championships start on the June 8.
