Werder Bremen sporting director Klaus Allofs has revealed that homesick midfielder Wesley is on the verge of joining Palmeiras.
The two clubs reportedly agreed a fee of €6 million for the twice-capped Brazil international but the deal was held up as Bremen waited for certain financial guarantees to met.
However, Allofs confirmed at a press conference that the deal is now all but done.
"Today we have made a significant step forward," he said, with only a successful completion of the requisite medical exam now said to be standing between the player and his return home.
Bremen paid €7.5m to take Wesley off Santos' hands in 2010 but the midfielder never managed to settle in Germany and stated only last week that he was desperate to secure away from the Weserstadion before the close of the Brazilian transfer window on April 30.
