| Wolfsburg 0-0 Gladbach |
| Gladbach missed an opportunity to close the gap on Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga after a 0-0 draw away to Wolfsburg.
Both teams were struggling to create much in the way of goalmouth action, with the visitors probably just edging the run of play during the first-half. Wolfsburg upped the tempo after the interval, but Marc Andre Ter Stegen still had precious little to do in the Gladbach goal in the second half as the match finished all square. |
| Hoffenheim 2-2 Augsburg |
|
Augsburg played out their second straight league draw after a 2-2 result away to Hoffenheim. Sascha Molders put the visiting side a goal to the good after half an hour, latching on to Hajime Hosogai’s feed to poke home unchallenged from inside the area. Hoffenheim were soon level eight minutes later after Peniel Mlapa took advantage of a defensive mixup to deftly lob Simon Jentzsch. The hosts got a second a few minutes after the restart, Robert Firmino burying a penalty following Jan Callsen-Braker’s infringement on the striker inside the area. However, Augsburg gained a share of the spoils in the 72nd minute, Sebastian Langkamp rising highest from a corner to head home. |
| Hertha 0-1 Hannover |
|
Hertha went down 1-0 at home to a hard working Hannover outfit despite dominating most of the contest. The match went into the interval goalless, even though Pierre-Michel Lasogga spurning two great opportunities to put the hosts in front. However out of nowhere, Mohammed Abdellaoue gave the visitors the lead in the 67th minute with a strike from 20 yards out. Things got worse for Hertha as Sebastian Neumann was given his marching orders nine minutes later for a second bookable offence. Despite their man disadvantage, the home side pressed hard in the time that remained for an equaliser, but could not come up with a goal as Hannover went home with the points. |
| Leverkusen 2-2 Stuttgart |
|
Late drama saw Stuttgart escape from the BayArena with a 2-2 draw against Leverkusen. Robin Dutt’s men opened the scoring after only 10 minutes, Stefan Kiessling reacting quickest to poke home the rebound after Sven Ulreich had parried Simon Rolfes’ effort into his path. Julian Schieber levelled for the visitors 15 minutes later, with a powerful free kick into the bottom corner that left Bernd Leno in the Leverkusen goal with no chance. However, only a few minutes after the restart, Simon Rolfes buried a penalty to put his side back in the driving seat. Things got complicated for the hosts shortly after the hour mark, when Michel Kadlec was shown a second yellow for holding back Cacau. Despite the dismissal, it looked like the hosts had done enough to claim the points, until Martin Harnik popped up on the stroke of injury time to put Bruno Labbadia’s men level. There was still enough time for Cristian Molinaro to see a straight red for kicking Andre Schurrle in the face as the match ended in a sea of controversy. |
