The Goan coach hopes that his side can make it into the next round with a game to go…
Churchill Brothers continued their unbeaten run at home in the AFC Cup as they came back to level scores against Persipura Jayapura in a group E game.
“We played a good match. We missed a lot of chances but it was a good result. A draw is a good result. If we win the next match (against New Radiant), we will go through,” said coach Mariano Dias after the 1-1 draw.
Churchill were wasteful upfront as they failed to capitalize on the opportunities that came their way in both halves.
“In first half there were two clear chances, one for Balwant (Singh) and one for Jaison (Vales). In the second half too, Balwant again had a chance. We could have won by two goals at least. But again it is a part of the game.”
Dias stated that the Indonesian champions played well and that his side was missing several players which eventually hurt their chances of winning the game.
“They were tactically good. I said earlier Persipua are a well organized team. They had most of their players whereas we had five players out. But we also played very well. I am happy.”
