The 30-year old listed the reasons for their poor start in the Singaporean league...
Home United skipper Juma’at Jantan believes that the humid weather in Goa shall play an important role when his side take on Churchill Brothers in a group E AFC Cup fixture on Tuesday.
“In the S-League we play at night. The weather will play a big part. But as a professional we can’t cite that as a reason. We have to play. Hopefully everything goes well.
“On Monday, we will have our first practice session. On Sunday, because of fatigue, the coach (Lee Lim Saeng) decided to have a relaxing session. Monday will be our first session,” said the full-back.
The Singaporean outfit have a point from their two matches in the competition and Jantan explained that they should have done better in their last tie against Indonesia’s Persipura Jayapura in the 1-1 draw.
“We should have won the game. In the second half they scored one goal that because of a lack of concentration on our side. In the first half we should have killed them by three-or-four goals.
“Sometimes it’s funny as we tried our best but couldn’t score; and on that day they scored one goal.”
Domestically too, Home United have made a slow start in the S-League this term with one win in three matches so far.
“I don’t take injuries as a reason. The players should step up and we have to show good football. Hopefully we can get three points here,” he signed off.
