Raju Yumnam: Expectations are high in the AFC Cup

The full-back hopes that his side continue their fantastic run in the continental competition...

Churchill Brothers find themselves at the bottom of the I-League table but their form in the AFFC Cup has been in stark contrast where they are placed second in group E after two matches.

The Goan outfit downed Maldives’ New Radiant FC in their last outing and are confident of a good performance against Singapore’s Home United.

“I would say that we are in a difficult stage domestically. We need to avoid relegation. But we are playing very well in the AFC Cup.

“We need to go further and further. Expectations are high from us,” said Raju Yumnam.

Churchill enter the tie after having had three more days rest than their counterparts who were defeated 3-0 by DPMM FC on March 14th. Yumnam doesn’t think that it will play a significant role when the two sides take to field.

“I would say the more rest does not mean it’s an advantage. It’s up to the players, but for us this match is very important. We will go for a win to improve our chances to go through to the next level.”
