Trevor Morgan: East Bengal have set a high target in the AFC Cup

East Bengal will play their second match of the AFC Cup this Wednesday when they face a mighty Vietnam side in Xuan Thanh FC away from home.

Trevor James Morgan, their coach, however, looked confident of performing well in the tie after having their opening fixture in the group against Malaysia's Selangor.

"East Bengal has been enjoying good form in both AFC Cup and domestic competitions. We set a high target in the AFC Cup this year and our ambition was proved by victory over Selangor," said Morgan.

The Red and Gold had faced the Vietnamese champions in the BTV Cup in 2011, where the former went down fighting 0-1. Morgan stressed that he does not know much about the opponent's line-up, but he has done some home-work for the match.

“I have led East Bengal to play against some Vietnamese clubs in BTV Cup. However, I learned only a little info about Xuan Thanh Sai Gon on the Internet and from a friend who lives in Hanoi. They proved they are a strong team with their great performance against Tampines Rovers. It will a tough game but we want to leave with three points," he signed off.

Lu Dinh Tuan, the coach of the Xuan Thanh Sai Gon side, also lamented over the lack of information his team have about their opponents.

"We have little info about our opponent. We have defeated them one in BTV Cup 2011 but it was two years ago and many things have changed. East Bengal have just defeated Selangor, a strong team in South East Asia. I think they will cause trouble for us but I expect three points in this game," he remarked.

Both the teams have won their first match in the competition and will like to snatch a second win in Wednesday’s clash.
